7 Days Trekking Itinerary
Your Kilimanjaro adventure begins upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport. A WeWild Travel representative welcomes you and transfers you to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi. You meet your mountain guide for a full briefing covering route overview, safety rules, and gear inspection. This is your preparation day to rest, recover from travel, and get ready for the climb. Overnight at hotel.
After breakfast, you drive to Machame Gate for registration. The trek begins through lush rainforest filled with dense vegetation, monkeys, and birdlife. The trail is humid and scenic, with gradual ascent. After 5–7 hours of hiking, you arrive at Machame Camp (2,835m) for dinner and overnight in tents.
You leave the rainforest and enter heath and moorland zones. Vegetation becomes sparse, and views of Kilimanjaro start opening up. The trail is steeper but rewarding, with volcanic landscapes and wide views of Shira Plateau. After 4–6 hours, you reach Shira Camp (3,750m) for overnight rest.
This is an important acclimatization day. You climb up toward Lava Tower at 4,630m before descending to Barranco Camp. This “climb high, sleep low” strategy helps your body adjust to altitude. The scenery includes alpine desert and giant senecio plants. After 6–8 hours, you arrive at Barranco Camp (3,960m).
You start the day by climbing the famous Barranco Wall, a steep but non-technical rock scramble offering incredible views. After reaching the top, the trail continues through valleys and ridges. The hike is moderate but scenic. After 4–5 hours, you reach Karanga Camp (3,995m) for rest and acclimatization.
You continue into the alpine desert zone, where the landscape becomes dry, cold, and rocky. The climb is steady as you approach Barafu Camp, the final base before summit. After 4–5 hours, you arrive at Barafu Camp (4,673m). You rest early and prepare gear for the midnight summit attempt.
Around midnight, you begin your final ascent under headlamps. You climb slowly to Stella Point (5,756m) and continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. After celebration and photos, you descend back to Barafu for rest and continue down to Mweka Camp (3,100m) for overnight recovery.
